As this is my first blog on FOX Weather for 2009, I thought I would take a look back at 2008 and highlight some of the interesting and noteworthy posts we had on the FOX Weather Forum last year. I started off by looking over Deke's Top Ten list of 2008 weather events. The FOX Weather Forum contains discussions on 8 out of the10 biggest weather events of 2008. What about the other two? Those two events (the Parkersburg Tornado and the Super Tuesday Outbreak) occurred before the Forum was even up and running (April 2008). So all in all I'd say we did a pretty good job of discussing these major weather events. Now is the time to check out the FOX Weather Forum and join the discussions! Here are some of the topics we've been discussing: We also have a section where you can Ask a MeteorKnowledgist your weather questions. Here are some of the best ones from last year: - Is there such a thing as heat lightning?
- What is the difference between the "meteorological calendar" and a "traditional" calendar?
- Humidity versus dewpoint, which is better?
- Is there a lake effect in the summer?
Click here to get the answers to these questions and many more. Or just ask your own! I'd also like to encourage you to take part in the discussions, tell us how the weather affects your life, and ask me any of your weather questions. Happy New Year!
